This week is National Marine Awareness week, and we have a curious box of eggs to share with you. Also known as Mermaid’s Purses, these egg cases belong to a group of animals called elasmobranchs (sharks, skates and rays) and can be found washed up along our coastline.

New Paper available through Endangered Species Research. By combining ultrasound images with hormone analysis, we were able to investigate the reproductive traits of the #flapperskate (D. intermedius). This approach suggests females lay pairs of eggs over winter. bit.ly/3F0BCIz
