A serious problem with single party rule and nationalized politics is that local candidate quality, no longer relevant for a win, falls off. And it will continue to decrease since the voter feedback loop is broken. At steady state, it approaches zero, as shown here:

Jared Isaacman’s NASA Administrator nomination reportedly may be revived - huge if true. Jared has huge support across the American space industry, previously 28 former NASA Astronauts signed a letter to members of the Senate in support of his position of NASA Administrator.

Inefficient education and health care spending are a much bigger problem for the US than most realize, with huge second order effects. Together they represent nearly 25% of GDP, and they’re a huge part of the reason US labor costs are uncompetitive.

Here's another example of overprotection in the real world: banning peanuts from schools caused kids antifragile immune systems to develop improperly, leading to peanut allergies, as Greg Lukianoff and I wrote about. (Meanwhile no protections online)

Thread with excerpts from Gail Heriot's "Title VII Disparate Impact Liability Makes Almost Everything Presumptively Illegal". The argument is very simple: everything has disparate impact; therefore disparate impact doctrine gives the EEOC effectively unlimited arbitrary power.
