Emotion regulation is not about controlling what you feel. It's about choosing how you respond. Wise people don't suppress emotion. They find constructive ways to express it. Intense feelings don't always demand immediate reactions. They often benefit from deep reflection.

If we're serious about creating space for collaboration & letting things emerge from that, then we have to let go of specifying outcomes. The point is you just cant know in advance. You can be intentional & care about about the 'how', but you cant control the outcomes.

It's puzzling that people blame "the NHS" for the state it's in. It's not a religion, simply a mechanism for paying for universal care (tax funded, free at the point of need, largely publicly provided). The main reasons it can't cope with demand, in no particular order are... 1.

Don’t let those who have a vested interest in blocking change [the guardians of old power] in organisations & systems make you feel like you are out of step. Managing decline isn’t the role of public service leaders - it’s forging new power relationships with staff & communities.

There's an increasing need to collaborate across teams & systems. Yet many leaders report "collaboration drag": too many meetings & collaborative processes that are messy, political & frustrating. Research shows that trying to reduce "collaboration drag" through senior leadership
