.City of Savannah preparing to demolish two blighted houses on Cumming Street in West Savannah. The city, with the support of the neighborhood association, bought the houses and two vacant lots and will build four new homes for modest-income, first-time homebuyers.

Mayor Johnson announces citywide curfew beginning at 8:30 tonight, running daily 8:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. while necessary. No violence has been experienced, this is a precautionary move.

Today, Mayor Van Johnson signed an emergency order requiring the public to wear masks or face coverings within the City of Savannah. The order goes into effect Wednesday, July 1, at 8 a.m. and will remain in effect until further notice.

Free rides to Chatham County's COVID-19 vaccination site start tomorrow. Anyone with an appointment without a way to get there can call (912) 856-4563 Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. to reserve a free ride. Reservations must be made by 3 p.m. the day before your appointment.
