The other piece that makes #Iran's attack on #Israel historic is that there are two middle powers engaged in direct armed conflict (in concert with GPs, instead of just via proxies). Not a historian, but I don't remember this happening in recent history anywhere.

It's hard to understand why an economics professor showing concern for a student would be thrown to the ground and arrested. This is not an obvious way to defuse a crisis.

I think it's pretty clear based on recent past that there is no intention to make this incursion into #Lebanon limited beyond a few days. It's astounding to me that US officials could actually believe this.
