Good to see this today on The Labour Party plans for employment support: labour.org.uk/updates/storie… I'm a bit of a bore on this stuff but I think this is welcome and the right priorities. Lots of things need to go right tho. Quick🧵on some of them: culture, capabilities, systems etc...
Fantastic to see real leadership from an MP who cares about his constituents, in particular the next generation of youngsters who need sensible career opportunities. Hats off to a flying start Jonathan Brash MP, refreshing to see 👏🏼
V.pleased Bridget Phillipson & Jacqui Smith establishing Skills England so soon - vital part of post-16 system to drive focus on skills that matter, bringing together all of the stakeholders to secure more investment, better outcomes, inclusion #LoveOurColleges Colleges are ready
"Pausing defunding and undertaking a rapid review of the implementation is exactly what we asked for and this announcement will come as a great relief to college staff up and down the country." - David Hughes CBE on today's announcement on pause and review. aoc.co.uk/news-campaigns…
Bizarre editorial decision by Channel 4 News to devote first 25 minutes of tonight’s 7pm programme to the bullying complaints on ‘Strictly’. The issue might have justified 5 mins tucked behind the great stories of the day. But serious indulgence in such febrile and crucial times.
Good luck to Duncan Ivison as he picks up the reins of this great university!
Took my dad to an appointment at the Cardiac Center at NHS Blackpool Teaching Hospitals 💙🌈 this afternoon - lovely modern, smart & clean building - friendly staff & seen by an exceptional & kind specialist nurse. 10/10 (not all the NHS is ‘broken’ - plenty of great care happening every day 😊)
There's no doubt about Paul Burgess CSFM's global leadership in grounds management & the application of technology. We mustn't forget his beginnings, a product of Myerscough College & University Centre MyerscoughGreenspace superb course & he was made a Hon College Fellow in recognition of this. Well done Paul!
Has Guardian sport given up on elite club rugby? Following the weekends Investec Champions Cup & EPCR Challenge Cup fixtures, the best it can do is 120 words tucked away at the bottom of p38. However F1 gets 4 full pages, AUS v ENG test 2½ pages, same for footie. Where is Robert Kitson etc?
