We had a great time at B:Music, responsible for Symphony Hall & Town Hall Symphony Hall watching CBSO's Classic FM Hall of Fame Concert on Friday. Lots of interesting and inspiring pieces for our musicians!

Happy to be able to contribute to the wider Bromsgrove community on Friday.

For some people, there’s nothing better than singing in a choir. For some people, there’s nothing better than playing in a music ensemble. For some people, there’s nothing better than making music with others. For some people, there’s nothing better or more important than music.

If anyone tells you that you can’t sing, or that you shouldn’t learn an instrument, or that you shouldn’t give up your day job, then ignore them. Sing! Learn an instrument! Enjoy making music! The happiness you’ll get from doing it will long outlive their selfish and naive words.

Of course she's brilliant and working with her is the greatest blessing a scruffy music teacher like me could dream of. But Lucy is what happens when you make instrumental tuition available to disadvantaged children. Help us to get this message across to those who decide.

We mustn’t lose sight of the other axe being wielded by BBC management: the 20% reduction in English BBC orchestras. We need to be equally vocal about this. An orch or choir is an instrument built by players working together as a team and developing a unique voice over time.

We had a great time singing with North Bromsgrove High School and Sixth Form 🌈 at St John's raising funds for the Syria/Turkey Earthquake appeal. Lovely to collaborate with musicians from another school!

So now we see the value of education. £1000, before tax, and a below inflation increase for next year of 4.5%. Not fully funded. Less than fire service, doctors, railway workers and the offer to teachers in Wales and Scotland. That’s how little they value education.
