Today's Inheritance Tax announcement relating to farms is really poor. Many (most?) are passed down the generations to continue farming. This makes it not viable in most cases. It's one area where there should be an exemption.

Disastrous changes to IHT relief. Huge drop in delinked payment rates. Tax on pickups trucks. Increased rural employment costs. Intro of fertiliser tax. Annual food summit dropped. Labour’s attack on farmers is well underway šŸ‘‡ hexham-courant.co.uk/news/national/…

My The Press and Journal column, yes it’s on the budget, APR and IHT. But it’s also on the rallies… looking at it from a PR perspective - things that I think are important if you’re going.

Why should farmers get inheritance tax breaks? Here is my take on it. The Labour Party you need to stop hiding behind your flawed figures, if you only want to hit 27% of farmers then make the changes! #stopthefamilyfarmtax

I'm not a farmer, I'm farming adjacent. One of my earliest memories is my grandad explaining the birds and the bees to me while leaning on the farm gate watching the dairy herd he managed. I was lucky enough to marry a farmer's daughter, and we have raised our family next to

There is still something really odd about the #FamilyFarmTax IHT raid; there is virtually nothing about the proposals that make any sense whatsoever. 1/12

I don’t envy Steve Reed MP today. He turned up to the National Farmers' Union conference and because of collective cabinet responsibility defended an appalling Treasury policy. Imagine trying to make a positive difference in your role where every conversation is dominated by someone else’s
