My annual Black Friday Parking photos. As a young engineer, I was always told to build more parking because you're gonna want it on Black Friday. That's never been true. We have way too much parking, especially here in the Brainerd Lakes Area. #BlackFridayParking

AGREED! "Gil Penalosa, 65, says he’s running in part because...the problems Toronto is facing around issues like housing and climate change" -and #RoadViolence- "are so urgent the city can’t afford four more years of the status quo."#TODeadlyStreets #TOpoli thestar.com/news/gta/2022/…

Yes, we must change the conversation. As example, very important, if we could see our city from 95cm height, as a 3 year old, what would we change? In streets, parks, other public spaces? #Urban95 #SafeStreets #Gil4Mayor #Toronto4Everyone

A #Toronto4Everyone includes #Encampment residents. People living in parks are a symptom of a system that is broken, not a failure of people themselves. Toronto can NOT engage police & security to harass & evict unhoused people in parks to nowhere. Adequate solutions. #Gil4Mayor

Taking a page out of the Dutch blueprint, our hometown of Kitchener just broke ground on a continuous and protected cycling network that connects adjacent neighborhoods to the downtown. A cohesive grid of no fewer than 20 new routes will be designed and built by the end of 2023.

My (92 year old) grandpa tells very nice stories about how easy it was to socialize with other kids in his village, because they'd all just meet in the piazza. That piazza is a parking lot today 😥

Just conducted my first study of a town square! Was really fun to spend a few hours just observing a place. A lot of work, for sure, but studying the relationship between the built and social environment is good fun innit

🌴 Cities are very green. I love how skyscrapers and nature are existing next to each other. Although being in the city center, you sometimes feel like being in the jungle. High tree density in the streets, green facades, trees on the roofs, many parks - and a lot of birds.

There is nothing - no education, no hi-viz clothing, no enforcement - that’ll fix this. The answer is safe system design. Raised crossings, narrower roadways, etc. #VisionZero. That’s it. Any time spent talking about anything else is a complete waste of time and energy.
