I don't talk much about the games I work on, but being a part of this franchise, with this amazingly talented team (many of whom aren't in this video, even the team shots) is pretty surreal! Thanks to all the fans for the support over the past 30 years!

So, to anyone who doesn't know, Hi-Rez Studios, the people behind Paladins and Smite, have stated that they will be using AI to clone voices and refused to add in any words to contracts that would protect actors from it. More info in the thread. Please share to other VAs. (1/?)

Just a quick note to say that this is what happens when companies stop writing their own custom tech and just go with the off the shelf mass market solution... that they'll have to customize and maintain anyway.

Epic taking a page out of the Embracer playbook with the layoffs at Mediatonic. If only there was a way that we could form some sort of a group to protect ourselves in this industry where success doesn't equal security. Unrelated... see below

How so many nations and individuals can offer unconditional support for a regime that brutalizes 2MM people (half of whom are children), and then responds like this when they resist, is beyond me. War crimes, plain and simple. Free Palestine now. That's how you end this.

Corporate loyalty is unrequited. Companies will lay you off without a second thought to save a pittance or to appease greedy shareholders. Corporate loyalty should play no part in your career/life decisions. There are no good corporations. And most importantly: Unionize! ✊

75 years of practice and they're still incompetent at lying. Why? Because their lies have been thus far unchallenged. Well, that has come to an end. Their narrative has unraveled. Israel is exposed. Truth stands out from falsehood. Free Palestine πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ΈβœŠβ€οΈπŸ’šπŸ–€πŸ©Ά

Signed. I think a lot about how our industry interacts with the communities we build. Cultivating positivity and removing negativity. Standing for human rights, standing against genocide, shows them what we're about, as we lead by example. Staying silent shows them as well.

Very important speech, especially this year. The culture of auteur worship is so harmful in an industry that treats people the way ours does. Especially when events that purport to celebrate games don't give time for the people who bring them to life actually celebrate.

Words like famine are being used to describe the situation in Gaza, as if there is drought or their crops are failing. These innocent men, women and children are being deliberately starved to death.

This! All fucking day! Since the day our daughter was born, our mantra has been "Presume competence". Academically, athletically, socially, everywhere. When she struggles, she keeps at it cause she knows she'll get there. "I can't" gives way to "I'll try", and then "I did it!"

been thinking a lot about β€œfighting back” in the context of palestine. 75 years of occupation, abuse, murder, sexual assault, kidnapping, displacement, etc but we as a country are being pressured to believe that the most monstrous thing you can do is retaliate?

The preceding thread is a sobering take on how out of balance things are in the games industry right now, but as always Rami Ismail / Ψ±Ψ§Ω…ΩŠ hits it dead center. Unionize, unionize, unionize!

This should be the minimum. Companies talk so much about culture (esp WRT RTO) but they don't hesitate to swiftly cut folks off from it when it's layoff season. Cheers to whoever made this happen!
