Is the all-volunteer force sustainable? Is a draft truly the only alternative? What if we had a force revolved around reserves instead a large standing peacetime military? These are some thoughts I explore in a piece I wrote for National Interest nationalinterest.org/feature/histor…

My piece for National Interest on the Continental Army plan of 1915-1916, an interesting case study in a reserves-based military establishment. I argue that the debate over the all-volunteer force vs. the draft should be broadened.

Excited to talk at National Museum of the United States Navy on the early years of Wilson’s relationship with the navy. Thanks to Mohammed Amer for the help! Register through Eventbrite or email David Barker at [email protected] UConn History Dept #civ-mil
