I will just say my new paper, the Winnipeg Free Press, Winnipeg Free Press, runs on all cylinders, absolutely all the time. I am awed.
I'll speak with Tom Harrington on World At Six tonite regarding the 10th rate hike from the Bank of Canada. Progress so far reducing inflation (from 8.1% to 3.4%) was all about energy prices, not interest rates. And now rate hikes, via housing, are adding to inflation. #cdnecon /2
Actually Jeff Keele that's a 1.6 percentage bump & a 20 per cent increase :) ghttps://winnipeg.ctvnews.ca/winnipeg-city-council-and-police-union-agree-to-new-contract-1.6478326
Here's an excellent overview by Peter Armstrong of the problems with relying on just one tool (interest rates) to try to bring down inflation, instead of a multi-faceted approach. When all you have is a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail! #cdnecon cbc.ca/news/business/…
Lots has been said in the news recently in Wpg about the increase of youth involved in violent crime (including a recent Winnipeg Free Press article). Worth noting that the rate of youth charged in MB (and Cnd) is about half what is was 20 yrs ago (source: fresh crime stats today) 1/
Holly Doan Maxime Bertrand CBC Manitoba Glen Murray Pretty obvious that you either didn’t read the ruling or have an ulterior motive in presenting this finding in that light. Reading the ruling makes it crystal clear that Mr. Kives was correct in all the important areas, with a relatively minor exception in the closing.
