Honour? How can you honour victims of this brutal past by not listening ? No one site can be all this is supposed to be, ask the victims - all victims what they want Roderic O’Gorman TD Micheál Martin Erin McGreehan TD Mary Seery-Kearney
The email we received this morning announcing the DECDIY plan for a ‘site of conscience’ laid out the ECONOMIC benefit to the inner city, We are the gift that keeps on giving, Economic benefit, academic benefit but not to our benefit #noarchive Roderic O’Gorman TD Micheál Martin
Presumably victims whose file or records it’s proposed will be held/stored/studied at this ‘site of conscience’ can specify that they do not want their files/records studied/stored/held there? Surely this would be a basic human right afforded victims? Roderic O’Gorman TD
Far from being a plan to ‘honour’ victims, plans for Sean McDermott street are an example of how little has changed, how decisions are still made for us, not by us. Ask the victims Roderic O’Gorman TD not academics, politicians or the arts council. #noarchive
@CatzStocker Gary Gannon TD Did you look at the video? ‘it’s a real bright day for Dublin’s north inner city community’ how is that victim-survivor led? How is that to be celebrated? That ‘site’ is for the benefit of a few communities - north inner city, academic, political - but not our community.
If the north inner city needs ‘something’ - give it to them independently of an archive. Social housing, education and childcare should not be linked to this project, causing further pain and upset to victims is not ‘honouring’ them Roderic O’Gorman TD Micheál Martin
This is not a ‘site of conscience’ but a mass grave of the nations conscience. It does every group forced into this ‘archive’ a disservice as no group can be represented properly, there is no consent for repeating the mistakes of the past Roderic O’Gorman TD #NotOurTruth
The site of conscience in Sean mcdermote Street, why we would allow organisations that haven't finished their work with the magdalens, take on the industrial schools and mother-baby institutions?seriously. We did not consent to this Roderic O’Gorman TD Micheál Martin
I am so proud to have played a part in this bill- People who were adopted now have the right to their birth certificates. Congratulations Minister Roderic O’Gorman TD I also want to pay tribute to Aitheantas #RepealTheSeal who worked so hard on all of this.
A lot of inconvenient truth in the same room this morning. Delighted to meet Bill Maher from @MolloyCampaign this morning and to chat with Liam Dumpleton from Midlands103 on progress regarding Adoptee access to info. Sharon Lawless - first meeting of your fan club!
