I’ll be kicking off a series of 4 short talks this Friday. Taking a deeper dive into soil health, crop health and soil biology with practical applications. Aimed at farmers in Upper Cherwell but all welcome (subject to space) book free place here: eventbrite.co.uk/e/thames-water…

Wonder how they're going to offset all that? It'll need a lot of land, would be my guess. But how do you get the land market moving? #familyfarmtax

Expect a mini ice age in the next decade! Oh, hold on, FTSE100 increased their emissions by 63Mt last year! Farmers' you need to try harder; maybe we should pay more tax to help!

If farmers managed producing food like the rail operators manage their trains , we’d be all having Christmas dinner in January. Absolutely hopeless on a very consistent level; which the only thing they are consistent about.

Jason Mauck The farm inputs industry desperately wants farmers to compare yield, because if you start throwing around "profit" like you are some sort of prophet, the other farmers will question, "hey, you mean I can buy fewer inputs and still make more money? Show me the Money!"

💭 “Is it really a low disease year… or a low yield year?” If you're questioning whether a £60/ha fungicide is the best use of budget this spring, you're not alone. Building crop resilience might pay better than spraying for problems that aren’t there 👉 wix.to/ke0dRKd

New research is starting to quantity the benefits of soil biology when applied to maize as a seed inoculation in semi-arid conditions. This seemed quite relevant at the moment. New blog post: wix.to/v0eJUyx wix.to/uYrRX5d

In a year like this, the better agronomic bet may be to skip or reduce fungicides and instead invest in drought-tolerance and stress resilience via biostimulants. That’s not anti-fungicide — it’s context-driven agronomy. And it’s what systems thinking is all about.
