And that's a wrap! Thank you to everybody who joined us at #SysBioSC2025! Thanks to the NSF-Simons Cell Fate Center UC Irvine for supporting this meeting. I'm coming away refreshed and inspired. Here's to great science and great community.

This is a very cool paper, from labs of Lars Velten and Alejo Rodriguez-Fraticelli, PhD extending the idea of using stochastic CpG methylation sites for clonal tracking to also record "deterministic" CpG sites that provide cell state info. Reveals patterns of HSC aging nature.com/articles/s4158…

Workshop: Cancer Cell State Trajectories & Heterogeneity Across Space and Time Cancer cells don’t stay the same—they evolve across tissues & time, adapting to therapy and the microenvironment. But how do we uncover these hidden journeys from noisy, sparse single-cell data? Join

This was an amazing summer read; thoroughly recommend. It has changed how I think about the role cells play in creating structures, organs: us. Engaging and approachable, yet also even on topics I know deeply I gained a lot: historical anecdotes & new ideas. Alfonso Martinez Arias

Wow! This paper is a wild ride, it has it all. - development and developmental genes (with new discoveries in some of the best-studied) - human evolution - stem cell self-renewal - intricate mechanisms of gene regulation - leukemia risk Congrats to the team; amazing work.

The variability of early mammalian embryos never ceases to amaze me. Here a beautiful work on the emergence of PGCs in the cow from Carly Guiltinan biorxiv.org/content/10.110… But look at the embryo amidst the enormous trophectoderm! Could you find it w/o epiblast markers? #Amazing
