After a miscarriage or stillbirth, people need time and space to grieve and heal. Too often they face shame, suspicion, and even criminalization for their pregnancy outcomes. Thank you Ayanna Pressley for focusing on the needs of people who have experienced pregnancy loss.

Yet another racist & nonsensical race norm that treats Black patients differently than other human beings—& harms them. Guidelines defining anemia for pregnant patients assume Black people have lower iron levels, so are less likely to detect their anemia!penntoday.upenn.edu/news/using-rac…

Midwife autonomy is about birthing people having real choices. If midwifery is under physician supervision, the options, practices & knowledge of birth captured by midwives will be lost. People deserve access to providers deeply skilled in physiologic birth, & that means CPMs.

The maternal mortality rate for Black women in NJ is 7X that of white women. They are also more likely 2 have their babies taken by CPS. A universal nurse home visitation program is a great way to reduce the former but must be disconnected from the latter. nytimes.com/2021/07/29/nyr…
