Stay at least a bus length (20 feet) away from downed power lines and don’t touch anything they may be in contact with – always consider them live and dangerous.

If you're using a portable generator because the power is out after yesterday's storms, make sure you do so properly to keep your household safe. bit.ly/3e9MYQo

There are still a large number of wires down after yesterday’s storms. Any downed wire should be considered live and dangerous (and that includes anything they may be in contact with). Stay safe - and stay at least 20 feet away.

It’s true. Linemen and other power company workers are among the most important first responders after a storm. I’ve always said we’ve never given enough credit to our ironworkers, carpenters, and all tradesmen who were there alongside firefighters and police officers on 9/11.

Help ensure the FCC's national broadband map is accurate in Michigan. Search for your address at BroadbandMap.gov. If info about your location is wrong or the location is missing, submit info to correct the map. Accurate maps = improved internet access.

Before heading out on the roads this time of year, it's always a good idea to check the camera views and weather info at Michigan.gov/Drive. In addition to our permanent camera locations, you can also see our plow trucks and a view from the cab.

Michigan's energy utilities are calling up their crews in preparation for the big pre-Christmas storm expected to hit Michigan starting Thursday. The MPSC will monitor their response to possible outages. Be safe out there, folks.

It's the first day of winter and National Weather Service is already forecasting potential blizzard conditions in the Upper Peninsula starting Thursday, and the Lower Peninsula starting Friday with wind gusts between 40-50 mph. As we prepare throughout Michigan, here are a few safety reminders. ⬇️

If you see a downed power line, ALWAYS assume it is carrying electricity and stay at least 20 feet away from it and anything it touches. Report it to 911, and then contact your utility.

🧵 Be safe out there, Michigan. The ice storm has knocked out power across the state, and utility crews are out in force, working as fast as they can to repair them. Here are our tips to help you get through this.

If you have tree branches down from the ice storm in your yard or in the street, wait to clean them up! There are lots of power lines down right now, and there’s a chance they might be electrified if they’re touching a wire. Stay inside and stay safe!

Please be safe out there. ALWAYS assume a downed power line is live. Stay at least 20 feet away. Don't touch anything it comes in contact with. Until you're sure there are no downed lines around you, delay cleanup of downed branches, because power lines can blend in with them.
