That seems unfair - expecting WORKERS to monitor their email during NON-WORKING hours?

Do their contracts state they must be electronically available between Friday evening and Sunday evening?

Sounds like a PERFECT grievance to me.

DrJames @YorkU (he/him/il) CUPE 3903 YUFA No wonder there was a strike. Many workplaces are telling people to explicitly state that a response after hours is NOT required if the email was sent after hours.

DrJames @YorkU (he/him/il) CUPE 3903 YUFA Collective agreements in universities need to include hours/days that emails/work are not required. Asking for a response on the weekend with such short notice means they are asked to work on the weekend and be available on emails 24 hrs a day any time the employer feels like it
