We thank MAUT | APBM for its support in calling on McGill University to negotiate in good faith with its professorial unions!
Snow crab season is short: Let's indulge together, McGill University admin, while we kick collective bargaining into gear with the goal of avoiding major disruptions to grading exams, Convocation, and more.
We call on McGill University to use #Budget2024 support to invest in its own profs, not to pay out salary increases to its senior admin
.Deep Saini It is a long-standing tradition of universities to include academic staff in decision-making. I support @AMPL/AMPD fight for workplace democracy and collegial governance.
It seems like it would be a lot easier for McGill University just to pay AGSEM | MCGILL UNION what they're worth and negotiate a fair contract that recognizes the vital work our TAs do for the university.
It's time to get the contract done! 5/end
Things McGill University would rather do instead of negotiating a fair contract with AGSEM | MCGILL UNION TAs:
* Jeopardize grad students' ability to publish & present research by cutting off work email addresses
* Put graduating and international students at risk by delaying grades 1/
In case our McGill University admin colleagues slept in this morning, the offer to negotiate over brunch (or lunch at this point) remains.
Being a Sunday, we invite our McGill University administration colleagues to join us in a Montreal tradition: brunch and collective bargaining. Cafe au lait, croissants, bagels... whatever you need to reach agreement to avoid disruption to students, their families & staff.
In case you missed it: McGill University has until April 23 to wrap up a collective agreement or our members will be on an unlimited strike. It will take only 2-3 days of hard bargaining to avoid disruptions to grading and graduation.
Perhaps coffee & donuts are not the McGill University admin's favourite, so we invite them to bargain over tea and crumpets or whatever suits their fancy to avoid needless delays in grading and Convocation.
The McGill University admin is running down the clock and refusing our invitation to negotiate so as to stop a strike that will begin in 10 days. We are just before the finish line, waiting for them to join us. The coffee and donuts are waiting.
We have given McGill University the tools to avoid a strike at @lawmcgill: more than 10 days to do only 2-3 days of work needed to reach a collective agreement. Does McGill University want to harm students, families, firms, & courts just to avoid a collective agreement?
We announced our deadline (April 23) to reach a collective early so that McGill University has time to negotiate & reach a collective agreement with us. We are ready to meet at any time to finish up the work and avoid disruption to students, firms, courts, and others.
