'Those supporting the non-confidence motion pointed to the Value-for-Money Audit of the university by Auditor General ON that revealed major deficiencies in financial oversight, planning and accountability ... academic programs have been placed at risk.'

We're now three hours from York University's arbitrary remediation deadline and large swaths of the CUPE 3903 membership (including myself!) still haven't received any official communication from the university telling us that the deadline exists.

CUPE 3903 York University This is utterly ridiculous. If your staff works Mon-Fri and you send out an email on Friday evening (which you shouldn’t be doing) it absolutely cannot require action before the start of the work day on Monday!

Just when you think bad employers can sink any lower….

Sending any worker communication after business hours on a Friday is poor taste but this, after signing RTW protocol following a strike takes the cake.

Can an employer unilaterally decide an employee has “abandoned” their job if they fail to complete a made-up form by an entirely arbitrary date invented by the employer, over a weekend?

A true “right to disconnect” law would permit employees to entirely ignore an email sent on a Friday night requiring employees to do something for the employer over the weekend.

We don’t have a “right to disconnect” in Ontario, even tho the Conservatives will tell you we do.

The strike was an incredible feat, and because of this and the hard work of many, we were able to secure some truly meaningful wins that will improve the lives of both students and workers.

Though the strike is over, we are organizing and the work continues!

On April 19th, all three units of CUPE 3903 have ratified the Employer’s latest offer respectively, and work will resume on Monday, April 22nd.
