Nice work by Kyra Clark-Wolf on fire-climate-vegetation interactions in the northern Rockies!
Hydroclimate driving ecosystem change: More subalpine tree species and reduced fire frequency in Montana as moisture availability increased since 0 CE. Fantastic work and summary here by Kyra Clark-Wolf - bit.ly/406fZQW - with lake levels from @meredith_parish!
This paper was stimulated by work Harvard Forest US LTER and focuses on the New England hardwood-oak ecotone there, which appears to have shifted with temperature. (Stay tuned for other paleo-ecotone work from Michigan by Sam Wiles and Jack Williams!)
Awesome to see Geology & Geophysics Dept., University of Wyoming undergrads presenting some of their research at #GSA2023!
