Huge congratulations to Susan Fajana-Thomas OBE on her OBE as part of the first New Year Honours from the King. A well deserved award for services to local government in Hackney & beyond; as well as to gender equality also linked to her work at SFT Foundation Trust.

CHRISTMAS GIVING OP: Today's the last day, but there's still time to support the amazing #100gifts100kids with The Community Closet
All the details ⬇️

Now onto a presentation on the work of the Commission, including their recommendations - led by three HackIT Delivers apprentices representing the huge local & diverse talent we've been able to recruit through our more inclusive & innovative approach.

The Junior Citizenship Scheme is back!
Alongside our partners at Transport for London and London Fire Brigade (among others), we will be welcoming more year 6 pupils to the Forest Road youth hub to learn about safety, hygiene and emotional wellbeing over the coming months.

If you missed the online launch of me & Keir Irwin-Rogers's book Against Youth Violence last week, you can now watch the recording - link below.
Worth watching if only for the first five mins of our talk - basically a Keir Irwin-Rogers stand-up set...

On the way out from my vaccination Elsdale Street Surgery (City & Hackney) I meet the tireless Krista Brown painting the mural for #BlackHistorySeason in memory of Dr Colin Franklin.

So good to see this, the struggle has taken too long & impacted negatively on so many children & families. Hackney has seen some awful practice, but also some great leadership from schools like ClaptonGirls'Academy & guidance from Hackney Council.

Alvin & Kyarna shared the findings of our Drivers of Safety and Violence research report in Hackney Wick/Homerton gathering feedback on the findings/recommendations for practical/strategic change to make our community a better place to live/work.
the Rise Up East Wick Award

The #TogetherBetter project by Volunteer Centre Hackney opens the mural Elsdale Street Surgery (City & Hackney) commemorating one of the famous Black Doctors, Dr Colin Franklin. His daughter Dr Paula Fraklin, CMO Bupa and on the #PowerList2022 of influential black Britons, was visibly moved. Krista Brown co-ordinated!
