Women at WRD Spotlight: Jessica Koop is a Senior Engineer at WRD. She manages all projects at the Leo J. Vander Lans Advanced Water Treatment Facility (LVL AWTF) in Long Beach. Jessica has 10 years of experience in the field of civil and environmental engineering!

Women Leaders of WRD: Esther Rojas is the 1st & ONLY woman #Watermaster in the State! She oversees the Central and West Coast Basins and ensures water rights adhere to adopted water codes; she also handles all state and federal grant funding and regional planning for WRD.

I’m proud of the work the Los Angeles County is doing to capture more water and be responsible stewards of this precious resource. Today I was honored to have been recognized as a Groundwater Champion by my friends at WRD during their annual Groundwater Festival.

The WRD not only manages and protects water resources for 4 million residents—including much of my district—but it does so much to educate residents about water use and conservation as well. They are the real water champions. Thank you.
