Last couple from the recent trip to visit the Water Voles. This one had an injury under its left eye, possibly males fighting? Feeding well and alert otherwise. The indigenous peoples of Western Alaska are outraged by bycatch, pleading for a crackdown on the largely Seattle-based trawl fleet. These boats drag wide-mouthed nets through the water targeting pollock, but also catch thousands of salmon as #bycatch .

A Cinnabar Moth caterpillar feeds on the leaves and flowers of Common Ragwort. They are occasionally found on other ragworts and groundsels.
Please leave some Ragwort for them in your garden for the red and black moth is so striking!
