USS Constitution is scheduled to go underway this Friday, May 17th, from Charlestown Navy Yard at 10:00 a.m.
We will fire a 21-gun salute viewable from Fort Independence on Castle Island at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Today, USS Constitution celebrates Military Spouse Appreciation Day!

This day was established by President Ronald Reagan on May 23, 1984, to honor the unwavering commitment of military spouses to the welfare of service members.

The Charlestown Navy Yard’s Dry Dock 1 was one of the first naval dry docks in the United States. In 1833, after six years of construction, the dry dock was utilized for the first time. The last time Old Ironsides was in dry dock was between 2015-2017.

Crew members from USS Constitution recently took the time to place American flags at a local cemetery to remember and honor our fellow service members.

We reflect on those we've lost who have served our Nation.

Happy Derby Day!

Today marks the 150th anniversary of the Kentucky Derby and the tradition of wearing elaborate hats at the Derby dates back to its early years. The brims provided much needed shade for spectators, and over time, they became synonymous with the race itself.

Throughout May, we salute the bravery and contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders who serve on Old Ironsides and participate in safeguarding our nation!

On April 24th, “Old Ironsides” had the honor of hosting U.S. Navy Admiral Christopher W. Grady, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, for a chance to tour the historic decks of the ship and meet the hard-working crew members that tell her story!

Today, USS Constitution showed support for #DenimDay , a powerful worldwide movement against sexual violence. By wearing denim, we stand in solidarity with survivors, highlighting misconceptions about sexual harassment and assault, while advocating for consent and support.

In the U.S. Navy, Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention is more than a monthly observance—it's a daily commitment. We're dedicated to fostering a culture of respect, support, and prevention.

Last week, we piped ashore one of our finest Sailors to serve on Old Ironsides, Aviation Maintenance Administrationman 3rd Class Andrea Wilson, after a successful tour aboard USS Constitution!

Patriots’ Day commemorates the battles of Lexington and Concord, which were pivotal events in the American Revolutionary War. On April 19, 1775, the first shots of the war were fired, marking the beginning of the fight for American independence.

USS Constitution will be open for tours tomorrow on Patriots’ Day, from 12 PM to 6 PM.

The helm and hatch are back!

Our Maintenance and Repair team, from Naval History & Heritage Command Detachment Boston, spent the week reinstalling Old Ironsides’ hatch covers and helm, or ship’s wheel! With their return, summer is just around the corner! ☀️🏖️
