The Graduate Communication Association hosted their annual Spring Picnic this weekend! Our department community, faculty, students, and their families, joined together for a potluck in the park. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend!

We are excited to announce that Dr. Tina Harris will be the Grazier Lecturer for this year's Comm Day! Her talk is titled, “The Racial Intentionality Roadmap (RaIR): Harris’ Guide to Bridging Racial Divides."

Congratulations to faculty colleague Dr. Joshua Scacco! He was chosen as the first USF faculty member to be an Andrew Carnegie Fellow. As a fellow, he will receive $200,000 to support interdisciplinary research into understanding and mitigating political polarization.

Our graduate students have been hard at work presenting their research! Kasima Ali presented her work at the 2025 World Languages Colloquium, and Jonathan Vargas, Danielle Williams, and Gabi Pfeiffer all presented at the 2025 Interdisciplinary Symposium on Qualitative Methods.

Faculty colleague Dr. Keith Berry has co-authored the 2025 update of Interpersonal Conflict with Dr. Joyce Hocker! Doctoral student colleagues Elliot Powell, Maggie Vail, and Zane Willard each contributed cases to the most recent version of the textbook, published by McGraw Hill.

Congratulations to graduate student colleague Sarah Marshall! They have accepted a position as an academic program specialist, reporting to both USF Sarasota-Manatee's Department of Education and Honors College.

Faculty colleague Dr. Marleah Dean Kruzel recently gave a presentation in partnership with Moffitt Cancer Center, as part of their “Meet the Experts” series. Her talk, “Coping with Uncertainty and Making Informed Decisions in Cancer Prevention and Care,” was held in April.

Congratulations to graduate student colleague Jared Worwood! His co-authored manuscript, “Environmental Information Avoidance Motives on a US Campus,” received the Outstanding Manuscript Award at this year’s Central States Communication Association (CSCA) conference.
