No reasonable human-being can deny that this is an upgrade in livability for people, nature, and the coziness of an urban street environment.

'Driving above the speed limit, swerving to miss pedestrians, driving the wrong way around the roundabout and over a central reservation – all while being pursued by a police car' and still this Hull car motorist thinks they were driving safely. hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east…

Video by Mobility For Who I believe?

This sums up my experience as a pedestrian and cyclist in Cardiff.

Drivers have sworn and beeped at me, and I’ve had several close calls at crossings with no apologies from drivers.

My wife got it 10x worse. She no longer cycles.

From Bloomberg UK:

Edinburgh’s new cycle tracks took a decade to install, but their mere existence shows that bicycle infrastructure can happen anywhere.

A clip from Dr. Snyder’s illuminating testimony about China’s (and Russia’s) political warfare.

Here he summarizes the 6 propaganda themes about the invasion of Ukraine that have been constructed by Russia, then picked up and echoed by China (and some in the U.S). Please listen.

“We found there’s this perfect one-to-one relationship. If a city increased its road capacity by 10%, then the amount of driving in that city went up by 10%.” Still one of the best articles on why building bigger roads leads to more driving. Via WIRED wired.com/2014/06/wuwt-t…

LTNs are really good.

If your Council isn’t installing them give them hell. They shouldn’t be denying people these benefits because they are worried about hurting the feelings of some drivers.

Almaty has lovely examples of good city planning. Lots of segregated cycle lanes (some kerb side of parking, some off road). Throughout Almaty there are tree lined pedestrian sections between roads + shop side walkways. Also - electric scooters, parks & links to nearby mountains.

Hull City Council is there a concept in place to encourage cycling and walking over the Drypool bridge while it is being repaired to encourage people to switch to these forms of commuting and easing congestion on the roads? Bridge is still open and safe for cyclists and pedestrians.

Andy Street You make it sound like just a ‘bad apple’ boy racer behaviour problem, when it’s just as much a road design problem. In too many places, the roads invite people to drive too fast.
