Can The BMA look into legal action against UKFPO for their monumental failure in the handling of foundation programme placement allocations which has given rise to the likes of Trent Placeholders and many other pockets of final year students with no idea where they’re going?

Hi Dr Mike Masding 👋

How are you making this right?

No excuses, fix it

(You don't appear to be on Twitter but hopefully tagging UKFPO will mean you get the message)

𝗗𝗿 𝗔𝗷𝗮𝘆 𝗠 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮 Trent Placeholders 5th June is not unreasonable but still wholly avoidable and unfair. 4th July is a joke just as UKFPO is a joke.

They should be within their rights to not attend any shift without at least 6 weeks notice.

Please STOP forcing them on us in our healthcare settings. We are extremely concerned about our safety: 2yrs training leaves FAR TOO MANY GAPS in their knowledge & they woefully lack the skills & expertise of Drs.
We say NO to PAs.

Eilidh 🦀 Cannot believe I’ll be entering the workforce where this is the opinion of the public. After being the test subjects of random allocation from UKFPO, this is unbelievably jarring to hear. Already dreading it ngl

Harry Raja Adnan Ahmed The IMGs in the UK are essential for the NHS to function and should be celebrated, not scape goated.

Is government, UKFPO, Nhse policies, not individuals to blame

The UKFPO used to report on the destinations of FY1/2s after completion.

Looks stable at ~10%. EXCEPT this is:
a) % of respondents to a survey. So doesn't relate to actual figures
b) the number of applicants has increased overall. So the same % still means real rise in nos

thing = crazy. Serious question. In theory if you’re a placeholder med student does anything stop u withdrawing, applying for a better paid PA job in the same region & coming back to the FY roulette table in a year having paid down some debt & got some training?

Do they not believe young doctors, in their first job, will not end up in precarious, scary situations regarding accommodation purely through the UKFPO's astonishingly lax approach to doctors' lives? Stress, which as they have pointed out themselves, is a patient safety issue.

At the top of the News section of the UKFPO website is a bulletin about 'stress awareness month'. Tony Choules, Operational Adviser to the UKFPO, says 'our behaviour and that of others can impinge on patient safety' through affecting doctors' cognitive 'bandwidth'.

Trent Placeholders Richard Fitzgerald 💙 🦀 UKFPO BMA Students Rishi Sunak Victoria Atkins Dr Navina Evans Could u pls enlighten when we have Drs w/o jobs why we need funded PA/AA replacing Drs day-by-day? Why taxpayers’ money is diverted to recruit non-Drs leaving Drs no option but to leave NHS England & 🇬🇧! Y no increase in NTN & SAS?

The medical establishment has always treated juniors badly. But the increasing levels of almost performative cruelty are not only deeply wrong, but dangerous. UKFPO should consider the extraordinary irony in their bulletin, and report themselves as a serious risk to patients,
