Bloated government bureaucracy and red tape pull healthcare workers and support staff from front-line work to bureaucratic roles, risking shutdowns and reducing medical service.

Many Canadian students who study medicine abroad spend thousands on private schools in Europe or Australia. With only a few government-rationed training spots in Canada, we're facing both a brain drain and a financial drain.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer worldwide, including in 🇨🇦. Early detection and treatment are crucial. In Victoria, pathology reports take up to 2 months, while elsewhere it's just a few days. Govt won't address pathologies delays.

My doctor doesn’t spend enough time with me. They rush me through. BC doesn’t have time codes for >90% of MDs. You can’t bill for longer visits. My colleagues were audited for billing “prolonged visits for counselling” for 75-90 minute sessions. What other profession has this?

cc Adrian Dix, @dave_eby: take a look above what happens even when I try using Telus Health and I won the lottery and was able to find a single appointment that was available after obsessively trying. I'm literally crying I'm so frustrated.

Lack of access to care is affecting BC in many ways: rising crime, increased homelessness, labor shortages, economic and education disparities, and family instability. Everyone deserves timely access to healthcare. Fix it now. 1023thewave.com/2024/09/10/wom…

Jennifer Lush BC College of Family Physicians BC Health Care Matters Everyone deserves access to longitudinal primary care. Schools have spaces and teachers for all kids, right? We need spaces and family doctors for all British Columbians. Period. Radical idea? Nope. It’s a basic right. Just do it. No more talk.

Multiple frontline [healthcare workers] have spoken to CTV News about fearing serious professional repercussions if they're identified. Start lifting the Non-Disclosure Agreements in healthcare. The public deserves to know.

The NDP’s refusal to cover family doctors’ operating costs... could be why you might not have a family doctor today.

How many people moved away/died? How many moved to BC in the interval? Are the 175,000 who came to BC in 2023 from other countries all attached? Heard yesterday of a 91 yr old whose FP is retiring & no hope for a new FP. #bcpoli BC Health Care Matters cindy e harnett Penny Daflos

It has been challenging to find healthcare solutions with the government. A complex web of bureaucracy often stands between frontline workers and policymakers, delaying action and increasing costs.

Nurses have been leaving hospitals due to toxic environments in recent years. The NDP may have had opportunities to develop solutions to address this issue during that time. Under the NDP leadership, many BC nurses also moved to the US to work for private companies.

The NDP’s reliance on costly bureaucratic layers like health authorities prevents GP clinics from hiring nurses directly, raising costs and creating obstacles to patient care.

I sure hope there are real and implementable plans put forward by leaders to address specialist waiting lists in the upcoming election in BC. The waits for patients has moved from long to now dangerous and unacceptable. I’ve got 464 people sitting on a waiting list and it grows
