orwellvalley They seem to think that home owners can just pluck thousands of pounds out of thin air. I got a section 20 the other day for £5K, and another notice of consultation. I get two or three a year for this and that.

I won't give in to this. I'm back on antidepressants. The future of work looks in the balance. I'd bought a knife I called my suicide knife if things got too bad. I won't use it. I'm not giving up and losing out on a life I could have free from all this burden. It will get better

I felt very low today, sitting in an unsaleable flat paying a huge service fee and the threat of section 20 £12k including the fire alarm. Back on sertraline I read that one of the side effects is suicidal thoughts. I got out, went for a coffee. I wish I'd never bought leasehold

The rule of forfeiture of leasehold needs confining to history like we did with the stocks, suits of armour and burning witches. Leasehold is still a feudal system. A right to seize your home over even a modest sum of debt is an outrage, HA's are more than willing to flex.

If leaseholders keep voting for parties that don't legislate a path for conversion to commonhold/freehold-for-flats, unsurprising nothing changes.

*As things stand* Independents on an 'abolition' ticket & The Green Party are the only options to END

🙏 Baroness Thornhill for your determination to seek justice for all

“We owe it to them to keep pressing the Gov Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities on making sure that all LH’s are protected from the costs of a situation they did absolutely nothing to cause”

The only people who would oppose this are those who are overly invested in adversarialism, or those who support lawlessness and vigilantism.

The removal of criminal sanctions (by the LFR bill) for freeholders who fail to account for service charges must be reversed.

Of course, this would be a last-resort backstop, in addition to the civil remedies.

But it must be a crime not to account to leaseholder beneficiaries.

.Rachel Maclean MP has been a real trooper for leaseholders throughout this legislature period. Thank you for all your hard work and for standing up for our interests. And as a Conservatives thank you for defending our 2019 manifesto commitment.

That’s it. I’m a radicalised single issue voter.

Whoever offers the credible, comprehensive leasehold reform & cladding scandal time bound package gets my 🗳️

Whoever most brutally stands up to the profiteering racket dressed in suits that is the building industry gets a 🗳️

The Tories speak out of both sides of their mouths on the issues

while Labour sit on their hands wondering at the salience & cost/benefits of making manifesto promises on an issue that affects 5 million households.

This is the point I have been emphatically making, now reinforced by the current Housing Minister. Claims about damage to UK investment or pension fund operations are false and unfounded by any evidence

The persistent and increased channelling of leaseholders towards civil litigation as their ONLY route to meaningful redress is concerning.
