A Caenorhabditis elegans embryo highlighting repressed chromatin in the nucleus by immunostaining against histone H3 lysine 9 dimethylation, the hallmark of heterochromatin. Imaging was undertaken with a STED microscope by Toby Buttress, a postdoc in the Ahringer lab.
