Just heard requirement for nationals of certain countries to book an appt to register with police within 7 days of arriving in UK under new immigration permission has been scrapped. Linked to fact appts with the Met weren't actually available until October 2023 at the earliest?

MPs debated the immigration health surcharge increase yesterday hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2024-0…. They now need to pass a motion to formally approve it. The government can then sign the increase into law; 21 days after that, the surcharge will go up to £1,035 a year.
