New paper in PNASNews led with Cristi Proistosescu shows that a weird spatial pattern of temperature change has slowed global-mean warming since 1980. Because the pattern could evolve in the future, observed warming doesn’t help us constrain long-term warming.

My first effort as writer for Advanced Sci News about a study concerning pattern effect and climate sensitivity by Pietro Salvi, Jonathan Gregory and Paulo Ceppi, with much appreciated contributions by Yue Dong (董 玥) and Tim Andrews.

A nice write-up of our CLIVAR Pattern Effect Workshop, highlighting consensus points that emerged out of discussions between scientists from many subfields.

It was an exciting workshop, which has hopefully laid the foundation for much collaborative research in the years ahead
