Live townhall on #Sudan at Munich Security Conference Clear call to action from UNICEF’s Ted Chaiban ‘Sudan faces a phenomenal scale of a humanitarian crisis….We need access- cross line, cross border. Into all areas of Sudan. We need funding: the 6bn appeal for Sudan is only 15% funded’

Sudan’s famine is man-made and preventable, yet aid is being blocked and food systems destroyed. 50% of severely malnourished children risk death. Warring parties must allow unimpeded humanitarian access now. Critical discussions seeking solutions at the Munich Security Conference.

Famine & sexual violence in #Sudan are not just consequences of war, they are weapons of war. At the Munich Security Conference we renewed our agreement on the urgent need for more humanitarian access & an end to atrocities. The arms embargo must be enforced, the world cannot look away.

Viruses don't know borders and neither should our work. Today at #EIBforum I highlighted the importance of global health partnerships - and celebrated an innovative, impactful one with European Investment Bank European Commission @GatesFoundation World Health Organization (WHO), which has given #EndPolio a needed shot in the arm.

Honoured to meet Lebanon’s First Lady Nehmat Aoun - نعمت عون First Lady Nehmat Aoun to discuss opportunities to advance the rights and well-being of every child in Lebanon. With a new government in place UNICEF looks forward to renewed collaboration to build a brighter future for children.

UNICEF's Ted Chaiban met today children who were forcibly displaced with their families due to violence & now reside in IDP sites. In these challenging conditions, they spend each day in makeshift tents, facing uncertainty yet striving to have a normal childhood.

Children I’ve met fleeing war dream of going home & to school. For them education & support are lifelines. UNICEF works with host governments to find lasting solutions. Solidarity means action to protect & educate, and to invest in their future. #WorldRefugeeDay UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency
