Ok, this has nothing to do with endurance training. However, my experiment suggests that wild bees prefer new to refurbished when choosing their similarly cylindrical condos. There IS one bee so far that prefers the more rustic version🤷🏽‍♂️

I snagged this awesome 'Physiology' Spotify playlist from Steve Ingham, PhD Songs with physiology terms in the text or title. Now that is high level nerdiness!

In this pod I am joined by Stephen Seiler we discuss tech advancements in sports. We cover how wearable devices and artificial intelligence can profoundly impact training effectiveness and sleep efficiency, but also the risks they pose, such as overtraining and potential injuries

I am doing a final push on our digital survey of endurance training intensity scales, how you found yours, how you use them, and what measurements are included. If you have not answered this survey, please take just a few minutes to do so. Thanks!

Nice thread a from Martin BS on the underlying capacity called, and development of specific adaptions associated with DURABILITY in endurance performance. It seem to be a real thing separate from VO2 max, fractional utilization & efficiency, but we still don't fully

When I was 10 my parents let me turn the closet under the stairs into a laboratory. Now, my home laboratory is in the loft above the stairs. 2,000 hours have been spent there since Jan. 2019. The things I do for you guys😉

This is a really honest contribution about and contextualization of the dense forest of training monitoring variables from Marco Altini, PhD

I think all of us who work inthe trainng and performance space need to stay up to date on this discussion. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

The statement on 'fairness, inclusion & nondiscrimination' based on gender identity and sex is spot on—if you ignore the last 200 years of scientific knowledge on the biological basis of performance.

Getting Fit

It's been two years since I put my plan together

Revisiting the quoted chart with Monday's article. The goal is to help those of you who wish to 'get fit'

The amount of work required feels daunting when we look forward.

In reality, we simply need to build a life

It seems that when it comes to using (mechanistically diverse) ergogenic aids during high intensity performances, simple addition does not, well, add up.

I asked a generative AI application to create a picture that included a COACH and a SCIENTIST. In about 8 consecutive iterations, the coach and the scientist were both depicted as men (scientist was old)......I had to add a prompt making one a woman. 🧐

I love a conference where athletes, coaches, and scientists are all connecting. The Nordic Winter Sports Conference in Meråker, Norway was a phenomenal mix of all three, with bridging science and practice in focus.

What single success factor came up most often?

En-JOY-ment

Imagine a single high school with 100-150 students that, in 30 years, has produced this many world championship and Olympic medalists in one sport. The high school is Meråker High School near Trondheim, Norway. The sport is cross country skiing.

Good studies are being performed & evidence seems to be building that the menstrual cycle does not account for clear, systematic differences in physiological capacity/endurance performance across phases. Individual athlete variation is the issue.....
