#OnThisDay 40 yrs ago in 1985 Cdr John Kerans died. He would become famous when he took Command of HMS AMETHYST in 1949 in what would be known as The Yangzte Incident, during which he led a night time escape after the ship had been detained for 10 weeks during Chinese Civil War
