My 5km walk around the Hugset Wood area this morning had 32 singing Chiffchaff and 4 Blackcap. Arrivals from yesterday/overnight. Also, a few patches of Toothwort through. ⁦Barnsley Birders⁩

Went for a walk on Beeley moor to find some beetles. Not many, but got a ground beetle (and I recently bought a key and spent hours learning new terminology). I think Pterostichus rhaeticus.

But also loads of Frog spawn, Bog Pondweed and other plants. Worth another look.

What should you do if you find a bumblebee in bad weather?🤔

👑Bumblebee queens need to be outside to search for a place to nest. She may already have a nest that she is gathering food for.
🥵A bumblebee will burn more energy if kept warm indoors.

A good walk with Sorby Nat His Soc today in the woods. Lots of plants, only a few flowering though, and many species of bird (although not loads in number).

Then IDing a few beetles from the other day when the rain came.
