A message to Labour MPs: If you vote to strip disabled people of vital support, we will plaster your names everywhere. We will ensure your constituents know exactly what you voted for. We will publicise your vote every day until the next election. You will not be re-elected.

Good to see NEF analysis referenced in this John Harris piece - rising claims for disability benefits need to be understood as an intersection of higher rates of both disability & financial insecurity among disabled people. Cuts will exacerbate both theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

I spent all day yesterday carefully going through 83 pages of data and 38,041 words about how a system that’s supposed to support disabled people in work is systematically failing them. All while the government says it wants more disabled people in work. #AccessToWorkCollective

This amendment is the brainchild of Meg Hillier - chair of the Treasury select committee. Very much not a serial rebel or critic. The first names on the amendment will be published tonight at 10.30 - but it’s expect to grow.

This is the moment! Labour members must stand with disabled people & carers not against us Support the rebellion! Back the amendment! Vote NO to the welfare cuts! We’re watching & we won’t forget 💜✊ #StopTheCuts #WelfareRebellion #Labour theguardian.com/politics/2025/…

“Number 10 has to make some seriously hefy concessions or they face defeat”. - ITV news just now, Romilly Weeks who broke this. #TakingThePIP Labour MPs WhatsApp’s gone into overdrive

Along with more than 100 PLP colleagues I have signed this reasoned amendment. If for some reason it is not chosen next week, I urge all who have signed it to vote against this wretched bill.

lan Byrne MP Please RT #Labour MPs, if 80 Labour MP's lose whip together they are 3rd party in parliament. 125 lose whip they are 2nd party in parliament & Gov opposition. 260 lose whip & with Lib Dems they can run Gov. Not hard to takeover a Government if you stand by your morals ! #YNWA

We wrote to Keir Starmer to express “profound concerns” about the disability benefit cuts and thank the 160+ MPs who have signed the reasoned amendment. Minor concessions won’t cut it. The Labour Party must stop, properly consult with disabled people, and re-think. #TakingThePIP

Disabled lives should not be 'negotiated' or conceded over. Last year, the UN highlighted that the DWP assessment process led to 600 deaths in 3 years. The *only* conversation on disability benefits that should be happening is how to build a system that doesn't cause death.

Richard Murphy (@richardjmurphy) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The UK spends as much on tax breaks for the wealthy’s pensions as it does on benefits for people with disabilities. One is handed out automatically. The other is fought for, often for years. If you want to see how rigged our system is, read on. 🧵

“We don’t have people ‘trapped in the benefits system.’ We have people trapped in a prison of despair and fear that literally makes them sicker. The system isn’t broken—it’s working exactly as designed. And that’s the problem.

My first PIP assessor did not know what a colostomy was, know what colostomy irrigation is. She wrote the report that I did not have any continence issues, nor need any aid or appliances to use the bathroom… Just to give a flavour of how shit the assessments are.

The Welfare Bill is a total and utter mess. It should be scrapped, yet the Labour government is planning to rush it through all its stages, which would normally take weeks, in just ONE DAY. NO scrutiny. How can this be supported by Labour MPs? #TakingThePIP

Hoe Junter (@joehunter_) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This nails the issue: This is about Labour shrinking access to support for disabled people. It is shrinking the welfare state for disabled people. It is withdrawing the nation's support for disabled people. It is repulsive and must be stopped.
