I think social care policy, rather than ‘services’ defaults to this idea (an idea hardwired into the post War welfare state generally) - that family will ‘care’ unless or until it can’t, hence 6 million unpaid carers & only 800k people drawing in publicly funded social care

thanks Richard Ageing Without Children have been saying for the last 10 years that designing social care around family in the 21st century is unworkable placing but it’s a message like so many around #socialcare that governments of all political persuasions don’t want to hear.
