Today marks the 137th anniversary of The Great Vancouver Fire. At Least 21 lives were lost in the fire and 600-1000 buildings were destroyed. We remember on this day those who lost their lives and remind ourselves of the value of a well funded, trained and staffed Fire Service

My dad wouldn’t let me play hockey bc he said I’d become a lesbian. My Grandpa took me to pick out skates, taught me how to tape a stick, & drank black coffee in cold arenas at my early morning practices. Happy Father’s Day, Grandpa Keith—& to all the men like you.

On this Juneteenth, we remember that throughout our history, efforts to deprive us of our freedom have been routed through efforts to deprive us of knowledge. We lift up the generations who have fought for our freedom to learn, and will not back down from the fight today.

My biggest takeaway from the Titan story is that we absolutely could have coordinated, multinational efforts to ensure no migrant dies crossing the sea and we choose not to.
