SOUPS 2025 will be in Seattle, WA!

Can you believe that SOUPS is turning 20 years old? We are hosting a Retrospective Panel to reflect on the 20 years of usable privacy and security today at 4pm to 5pm, and the SOUPS birthday reception will be today from 5:15pm – 6:30pm.

The first paper session of #soups2024 is starting now. The topic is “Expert Community”.

At SOUPS 2008 (held Carnegie Mellon University CyLab) Rob Reeder and Serge Egelman (@v0max.bsky.social) pioneered the wearable poster concept. Both a fashion statement and a practical way to stand near your poster and the food at the same time, sadly this concept never took off.

In 2012, we took SOUPS to Washington, DC. We had an invited talk from FTC Commissioner Julie Brill and went on a field trip to the White House, where we met President Obama's dog Bo!

SOUPS afternoon session is starting with the “Authentication and Authorization” session.

In 2013, we took SOUPS out of the US for the first time and held it at Northumbria University in Newcastle, UK. Our evening social event at Alnwick Garden really took off!
