With the Bute House Agreement between The SNP and Scottish Greens over, we can't afford weeks of Holyrood bubble melodrama; we need a new Programme for Government which provides certainty for Climate, Nature, People by listing what policy remains on the table and what doesn't.

The Scottish Government has effectively banned the construction of all off-grid new homes in Scotland under the new heat in new-build regulations. So if you are a long way from electric grid, you can no longer build a house.

7.Rural estates lease land to around 14,000 crofters and farmers. These enterprises form the backbone of many Scottish communities and play an important role in creating the “thriving, resilient communities” envisaged in Scotland’s national outcomes.

6. Rural estates provide homes for around 8,259 private tenants and around 4,700 agricultural tenants across Scotland.

5. Rural estates generate an estimated £2.4 billion GVA/year for the Scottish economy and support around 56,310 jobs.

4. Rural estates play an important role in supporting Scotland’s transition to net-zero by enabling the roll out of renewable energy. It is estimated that estates account for 57% of Scotland’s installed renewable energy capacity.
