The attack on Black supermarket shoppers in Buffalo 2 years ago was a result of the same racist, anti-Black ideology and lax gun laws that led to the tragedy at Mother Emanuel AME in 2015.

We must confront this hate head on and address the all-too-easy access to weapons of war.

Two years ago today, our city was shattered. We are still picking up the pieces, but we will move forward with those we lost living on in our hearts and in our deeds. Hate will never defeat hope and love.
