Construction work for the Uganda section of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) are scheduled to begin before the end of this year. @Perezwamburu @SGR UGANDA RAILWAYS CORPORATION Ministry of Local Government Ministry of Works & Transport

A consignment of railway sleepers for the rehabilitation of the Tororo - Gulu railway line has reached the Port of Mombasa. From here, they will be railed to Tororo. This 2-year railway project is implemented by CRBC & fully funded by the Government of Uganda.

On the passenger side, under this project, passenger terminals will be constructed in Namanve and Kyengera. Halts will also be constructed along all routes. /3

On Safety: Level crossing along the Kampala - Namanve have been constructed, and more are yet to come. To ensure safety for all, level crossings will be automated. Not in 5 years, but in the shortest time possible. /2

Government, in a bid to revamp railway services, approved financing from the African Development Bank to undertake a number of activities. In the next five years, we shall work on our Permanent Way this way. /1

The Minster of Works and Trasport General Edward Katumba Wamala has appointed Eng. Benjamin Olobo to the Board of Uganda Railways Corporation replacing Eng. Robert Kafeero Sekitoleko, who has since been appointed the Chief Mechanical Engineer.

30% of physical works on the Tororo - Gulu railway line have been completed since August 2023. The project implementation period is 24 months.
