Tastes change, yes, but imagine how different the triple j hot 100 would be if being able to play an instrument and hit a note without auto tune was a mandatory. Music has gone backwards because the laptop has made it all about production. Tail’s wagging dog.

It’s a thrill when someone contacts you from South Korea and says they liked your book and you didn’t know it had been translated and published and hadn’t even seen the cover! But … cool!

ChatGPT is exactly like music producers using programmes to make music. It sidesteps all the hard work that makes the magic, which makes music the soulless bumpf it is today. Same will happen to writing. We’re currently writing rock n roll but dance music is coming.

When Moehanga arrived on the island he saw families living in primitive, damp and unsanitary conditions and a brutal society that punished almost any act of disobedience, from theft to living with Gypsies, with death.

Hey this #VoiceToParliament seems a good idea, giving a marginalised people a say in their own lives. I hear that’s making some people angry, which is weird.

Not to be alarmist but…this is what’s called a six-sigma event, now unfolding in Antarctica. Otherwise known as a once-in-7.5-million-year event. Hang onto your hats. HT Prof. Eliot Jacobson

Twitter finally turned to X on my phone. I enjoyed Twitter for years. Experiencing a brand I loved be fucked hasn’t been nice.

This is a masterclass in brand destruction. It is absolutely a strategic, I think (hey we all can be wrong), plan to undo a platform of collaborative intelligence that can undo governments. #fuckyouelon

Had a heart attack then a triple bypass over the last few weeks. Has been awesome. Seriously. Being not dead is cool. Extra decades are awesome.

Why am I the only person I know who thinks sampling is intellectual theft? I know they’re paid for but to claim it as “part of the song we wrote” is just plain wrong. Only realised now the coolest part of Hilltop Hoods “Cosby Sweater” the bassline, wasn’t written by them.
