Nice piece by Lydia Wilson for New Lines Magazine on the early 6-8th monastery and pearling settlement on Siniya island, Umm Al Quwain, dug by Tim Power and Italian Arch Mission. Amazing find for دائرة السياحة والآثار , led by Majid AlMuallla . UAQ has some anazing archaeology! The IASA
Thanks so much, Lydia Massiah 📕🌿🍄 . Some bluebells in the springtime are always welcome, but especially today. I haven’t been down to the my bluebell wood for FAR too long !
What an incredibly obtuse woman Thérèse Coffey is… Wild birds are especially responsible for pollution, the Environment Agency tell her and she repeats this garbage? There ‘s no chance of cleaning up English waters with her in office, I suspect… Feargal Sharkey @NatureNerdTech #Wildcasting 🇨🇦

A wonderful piece on the Coronation from Caitlin Moran This (and more) " Less splendid is one ... woman ... in an incredibly creased lilac-coloured dress. The crumples and folds across her bottom look like Samuel Beckett’s face .... thetimes.co.uk/article/caitli… The Times and The Sunday Times

Two killer whales (orcas) seen off Abu Dhabi. Wonderful. And Abu Dhabi's Dept of Culture and Tourism Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi has advised hotels stop swimming for two days. O M G ... a slight over-reaction? Sigh.... thenationalnews.com/uae/2023/05/10… via The National
An excellent piece, as usual, by John Dennehy on discovery of a new butterfly for the UAE. Many of the important discoveries about UAE natural history are made by interested amateurs, not by the professional agencies. Magnificent piece… Proud to have been a member of Société Jersiaise for over 60 years. A much needed and most welcome part of Jersey’s community. ... Malcolm Ferey - Deputy of St Saviour
Thank you, Fiona. Well-put. Frank Walker
Excellent -- Sheikh Zayed would have approved. Over 30 years ago, he sponsored and funded the Abu Dhabi Islands Archaeological Survey, ADIAS, of which I was Exec. Director. Good to see the Zayed National Museum continuing on his path. The IASA Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi مكتب أبوظبي الإعلامي
Thanks, @davidaltonHL I've said it before: the UAE is still a work in progress. Much to do. But under Mohammed Bin Zayed , as with his brother Khalifa & Father Zayed, tolerance &freedom of belief are fundamental to the nature of the State. Long may it last! عبدالله بن زايد UAE Forsan
Go for it, Christopher Beaumont theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/j… Be careful of those rushing to offer to invest, of course, but a plan to buy up & restore abandoned properties -- from hotels to more modest cottages -- makes good sense for the future of Sark Sark Island
Amazing comment on Boris Johnson from suzanne moore in the The Daily Telegraph of all places… “His character corrupted the entire party. We now see them rotting before our eyes.” Cannot disagree with that.
