.Volodymyr Zelenskyy / Володимир Зеленський's tv address to the Russian (!) people might be the most moving speech that I've ever seen in my entire life. The whole world needs to see, understand and share this crucial Ukrainian message. #StandWithUkraine #Ukraine #Україна #Russia #Россия

NEW: income inequality in US & UK is so wide that while the richest are very well off, the poorest have a worse standard of living than the poorest in countries like Slovenia ft.com/content/ef2654… Essentially, US & UK are poor societies with some very rich people. A thread:

Trying to see this on the Beeb website. Should certainly be raised with Truss today. And hopefully also in the Met Police cuttings file too …. Kwasi Kwarteng ‘attended champagne party with financiers on mini-budget day’ | Kwasi Kwarteng | The Guardian theguardian.com/politics/2022/…

The NHS is completely BROKEN It WASNT broken by COVID/Ukraine/inflation(*delete excuse) It was broken by deliberate CHOICES to break it RT if you want this/next government to make CHOICES to properly fund the NHS, reward its staff & provide better healthcare for UK population

For those who don't fully understand what is up with the NHS, here is a thread for you that might help. I'm a consultant physician working as a doctor in the NHS in Yorkshire and Wales for 32 years now. I have experienced the NHS at its best (2008) and its worst (2022).

Sorry Lawrence Dunhill Alastair McLellan this is complete and utter nonsense All staff groups are striking because of the destruction in their pay (and also their pension related to that pay) A one off non consolidated “bribe” does nothing for #FullPayRestoration RT if you agree

This is my 6th year at C4 News FactCheck and every winter England’s NHS has been in crisis. So when I started looking at the latest stats I was expecting to do a story about history repeating itself. But it’s not repeating. 2022 was *so* much worse. I can prove it in one graph.🧵

Many of you know I love timelines & I have been updating the one on IBD trials/studies for some time🧵 The landscape is changing fast & there isnt enough space here to share all the content As such I have created a website to collect it all and to make it interactive

NEW: we need to talk about NHS staff retention. At a time when Britain’s healthcare system is acutely short of workers, *1 in 7* UK-trained doctors are practising overseas. No other developed country is like this, which immediately tells you there’s a problem. Let’s dig deeper:

1/29 We need to talk about these graphs 👇 We have nurses & junior doctors on strike & consultants potentially joining them very soon. Lets talk about inflation & pay. How to fix this car crash (& perhaps more importantly, how NOT to). Please read full 🧵 to end and share / RT

Based on this alone…. I will be rejecting the Government’s offer. This is basically limiting SPA further - I suspect some trusts will make it zero.

Oh dear. Been here before! Didn’t work. Likely to lead to focus on lower acuity patients & pressure on ED folk from management teams. The focus needs to be on exit block not on reputations. That will take long term investment in beds, the workforce, and social / community care.
