If you swapped 2 for a benefits adviser and a housing officer you could halve the people required

It's absurd that MH professionals are needed for the distress caused directly by a broken benefit and housing system.

“You must go to work!”

“Okay well will anyone accommodate for my health issues?”

“No, but you still must work or we will remove your benefits!”

“But how can I work if no one will employ me?”

“YOU MUST WORK!”

Despite what DFE would have us believe there's more to our lives, more to our existence, more to our humanity than being in either education or work.
Human flourishing is hearts, souls, love & memories.
We're more than just economic units!

Politicians need to remember that it is much *cheaper* to give disabled people a small allowance so they live independently than make them dependent on expensive state services. Cutting disability benefits costs the state far more overall.

This is the message everyone should be taking home from today’s despicable announcement.

The number of people of working age with a health condition or a disability is going up.

And not because they’ve all suddenly become work-shy scroungers🙄

What I find so annoying about Sunak's speech yesterday is that there were plenty of people during the acute phase of the pandemic who warned that letting lots of the population get sick would have a detrimental impact on the economy - they just didn't want to know.

Dear Rishi Sunak,

82% of workers in Clinically Vulnerable households have lost work / retired early due to high Covid risks.

You could simply act to:

We encourage employers to rip up their 'sickness absence' policies. The Covid pandemic means that *all* workers will have unpredictable extended periods of reduced capability to work. Workplaces need to adapt to allow highly flexible irregular working that includes everyone.

The NHS employs exactly zero ME specialists, and they won’t listen to ME specialists outside of the NHS because they’re outside of the NHS. It’s almost as if… the NHS… didn’t want to treat ME…

Soaring sickness absence in schools, soaring sickness absence in the workplace. We must address the causes, not the symptoms, so that people lead happier healthier lives.

I need everyone to remember that they will not have time to implement this before they are out of office. Labour may or may not want to do the same but at the moment this is just rhetoric - dangerous rhetoric, harmful rhetoric, but not policy yet.
