First contribution to a Dublin City Council meeting. A bit nervous but I’ll get better. The simple facts is that Oscar Traynor Woods is not affordable by any stretch. #MakeHomesReallyAffordable

It’s being a real privilege to work alongside Catherine Murphy & Róisín Shortall Over several decades Catherine & Róisín have made a huge contribution, never being afraid to stand their ground for what they believe in. Wishing Róisín & Catherine all the best for the future.

The median house price in Ireland is now €365,000 rising to €465,000 in Dublin. The Housing Commission identified key solutions to tackle the housing crisis. So why is this Government still sitting on their hands? thejournal.ie/asking-price-i…

Median asking price for a home is now €365,000 - a 7.3% increase on the same period last year. "Latest report from myhome.ie is further proof that Govt is unable or unwilling to bring down the cost of buying a home," says Cian O'Callaghan T.D. socialdemocrats.ie/house-prices-r…

Hard to believe that there are still some Council's that don't live stream their meetings. Live streaming is good for accountability, transparency and democracy.

Disappointed that yet again Limerick Council - Comhairle Luimnigh have voted to defer live streaming of our meetings! Live streaming of public meetings is in the public interest – and we are here to serve the public and work in the public interest. There is just no excuse for deferring this again!

If the Government are serious about tackling domestic, sexual and gender-based violence, they would urgently provide enough refuge spaces. No one should ever have to choose between homelessness or staying in a dangerous place.

€5.6m was charged for the Derelict Sites Levy last year but just over €604k was collected. Nobody should be allowed to sit on crumbling buildings while thousands of children grow up homeless. independent.ie/irish-news/own…

28 is the average age Irish people leave home now. In Finland it's 21. A generation stuck at home. Infantalised Lives on hold. This is result of Fine Gael & Fianna Fail housing policies that turned housing from home into investment asset. A generation sold out to vultures.

Affordable housing is being built at a glacial pace. In the first quarter of 2024: ➡️32 Affordable purchase homes were built ➡️24 cost rental homes were built. A drop in the ocean compared to this year's target of 6,400 affordable homes.

Over 4,000 new households are at risk of homelessness since April. Most of them are facing eviction because the landlord wants to sell. Nobody who pays their rent should live in fear of homelessness. We need to end no-fault evictions.

A new homelessness record has been set every month this year. How can the Government possibly claim that we’ve turned the corner on housing?
