A river cruise on the #Danube likely off the itinerary for tourists for a while. Here's the mighty river in spate this morning at Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. River levels likely to get higher, as all that rain recently and today moves downstream

Snow has been falling again today in Obertauern in Austria, the 4th day of snow, with around a metre-high depth, exceptional for mid-September.

The very slow movement of #Boris, the deep low which has brought extreme rainfall & caused devastating #floods in part of central Europe, can be clearly seen in this 5-day Meteosat Airmass loop, note the continuous northerly flow against the Alps, via Jochen Kerkmann

The Danube at Bratislava has recently peaked at 971cm (nearly 10 metres!) - fortunately the city flood barriers weren't breached & levels are expected to drop from now on. However, trouble downstream for other communities along Danube, such as Budapest

EUROPE FLOODS Attention now turns to Italy for the risk of flooding from storms. Parts of the Emilio-Romagna and Marche regions could see up to two months worth of rain fall in just three days. RED warnings have been issued for Wednesday. Floods latest: bbc.in/3BanLAL

Parts of Italy unfortunately next in line for the risk of #flooding rains over the next few days, as an upper low drifts west over the nation, bringing intense downpours, particularly over Emilia-Romagna, Marche and Abruzzo regions, it's already starting in Pescara in Abruzzo ๐Ÿ‘‡

Warming up the next few days, we may see 25C in #London and the southeast. But an increasing risk of #thunderstorms across southern half of Britain from Friday and through the weekend - as low pressure nudges up from the south, but remaining warm

Both GFS & ECMWF showing a return of cold air from the arctic the end of next week, still too far out to have faith in coming off. But with temps rising above average before then, it will certainly feel like a roller coaster of temps this month following the cold blast last week

Very plesant summer-like weather at the moment, but this time next week it could be quite the change, with a strong jet streak arriving, which may encourage a deep low near UK bringing wet & windy weather. Later in week, 00z EPS on another arctic blast to follow, with N -NW winds
